Different types of gps navigation systems
In this article, I will describe the many types of GPS navigators on the market today. Portable car GPS navigator- This Global Positioning Satellite navigation system uses touch screen controls and maps that are already loaded into the navigator. Many have Bluetooth capabilities, and can play MP3s. Some can even find local interest points on your route. They have bright color screens for ease of use. In - dash GPS navigation- Most GPS navigators of this type offer touch- screen controls, turn by turn directions, easy to read illuminated displays, voice command, Ipod and Bluetooth. They include a stereo and built in monitor, a fold out connection box, and even DVD playback. Hand held and personal GPS navigator- These GPS navigators are designed for people who run, hike, bicycle or geocache. Some models even keep up with pulse and heart rate. They are made for boating, driving, camping, and can even be used as a PDA. Remote mount GPS navigation- These GPS navigation systems are made to be used with compatible video receivers. Add on traffic receivers- They are designed to give you up to the minute traffic updates through your portable navigator or car stereo. GPS Tracking- relays information to your phone, pda, or computer to help keep track of your belongings, such as your car, boat, valuables or family. GPS navigation accessories- Includes carrying case, adapters, antennas, travel guides, mounts, and software for your GPS navigation system. Motorcycle navigation- Sturdy GPS navigators made to survive sun, rain, wind, and vibration. Device holders- It hold your portable navigator, then sticks on to a car mount to keep your GPS device within reach while you are driving. Marine GPS- They has waterproof cases, fishing charts, and star charts. Many can even store highway map information. A GPS chip is a radio-receiver that grabs the many signals of GPS satellites all at the same time. It can tell position, speed, and time all at once. In the beginning, GPS navigation information was visible on a small screen, documenting your position as dots. You could see where you were and which direction you were going in. This would normally be used with a map of where you were heading. If you were lost, it would stop you from just going around and around in circles. Mapping GPS navigators have maps that can only be used in the navigators to which they are assigned. They are not interchangeable. There are not maps available for much of the Earth’s surface, so taking along a paper map is always a good idea, especially since electronics break down all of the time. Portable car GPS navigation systems have maps and street data to lead you in the right direction. They are great as long as you stay on the road, but when you leave the road, it loses track of you in its database. It is good in an emergency situation because even if you are not on a road, it can still tell where you are. Lots of cellular phones are now equipped with GPS navigation, and if your subscriber has Assisted GPS, it is the best navigation system out there. It can grab signals that other GPS systems cannot.
